How to Properly Install the Pool Outlet Strainer and Plunger Valve

To install the pool outlet strainer and plunger valve, first unscrew the plunger valve union from the threaded strainer connector carefully to avoid losing the step rubber washer. Next, unscrew the strainer nut from the threaded connector, leaving the flat washer on the connector. Insert the threaded connector into a pre-cut hole in the pool liner wall from the inside, ensuring the washer is against the liner. Lubricate the threads with petroleum jelly before screwing the strainer nut back on clockwise, finger tightening it. Then, screw the plunger valve union back onto the threaded connector, making sure the step washer is in place. Finally, turn the plunger valve handle to the closed position to prevent water flow during pool filling. This setup helps prevent debris from damaging the filter pump and controls water flow during maintenance.
